Spruce Pine Mica Co., Established in 1924, is the leading producer of
precision Mica parts for optical, electronic, medical, aerospace and defense applications.
We developed the Techniques and equipment for the production of precision blemish-free
mica parts.Mica is nature's most perfect insulation. It provides outstanding insulation
and withstands extremely hostile environments. Arcing will not cause carbon tracking, it
withstands temperatures to 1200 Deg. farenheit for muscovite and 1800 Deg. farenheit for
phologopite. It is relatively unaffected by changes in humidity, pressure or heat.
Changes in our industry have brought about many synthetic materials which have replaced
mica in some applications. We have expanded our capabilities to fabricate these plastics,
such as nylon, delrin, Teflon, vespel, torlon, ultem, etc:
Our products are in use from toasters to space exploration.
Our shop is fully equipped, cnc and conventional, for die stamping (to 56 tons),
production machining of mica as well as other materials, and the making of our own tools
and dies.
